Records Division


The Harlingen Police Records Division maintain records generated from police action or response from the Harlingen Police, including: arrest, offense and accident reports. 

Open Records Act

In accordance with the Public Information Act, Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code, the Harlingen Police Department makes all of its public records available to citizens. The Public Information Act does not require governmental bodies to create new information, perform legal research, or to answer questions. The request must ask for records or information already in existence. The Harlingen Police Department  will respond within ten business days to information requests.

The Harlingen Police Department may collect a fee as prescribed by law or regulation for the requested documents. If a fee is not prescribed by law or regulation, the fee shall be the actual cost of duplicating the record.   • Request In Person: The Records office sells copies of Police Reports to the public at the Harlingen Police Dept. located at 1018 Fair Park Blvd., Harlingen Texas from the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 4:45 P.M. Monday - Friday.

Communications Division

The Communications Division is the first point of contact for emergency service and a vital link between the citizens of Harlingen and the Harlingen Police Department and Harlingen Fire Department. The Communications Division is currently staffed with one (1) Communications Manager, three (3) Shift Supervisors and  fifteen (15) Public Safety Communications Officers who provide 24/7 coverage for our community.

  • Say what is wrong and what kind of help you need
  • Tell the 911 operator where the emergency is
  • Give your name and number, or remain anonymous 
  • Follow the operator's instructions-stay on the line until you are told to hang up
