Harlingen, Texas– Achieving the Eagle Scout ranking as a Boy Scout is no easy task. First, you have to earn 21 merit badges, live by the oath and law of scouting, and be a leader in your troop and in your community.
Pierre Souffrant is just about there. He’s applying for his Eagle Scout Badge and has chosen Hugh Ramsey Nature Park as part of his Eagle Scout Project.
His project includes raising the funds needed to repair a vandalized bird blind, install a bench, and then remove invasive plants within a 15-foot area and clear a 35 feet region that leads toward the arroyo. He will be working with the Arroyo Colorado Audubon Society, The Texas Master Naturalist, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
He attended the regularly scheduled City Commission meeting with his parents on Wednesday, June 6, to inform the Commission about his proposal in hopes of the project being approved. It was by unanimous vote.
The Eagle Scout ranking is the highest rank in Boy Scouting. The City of Harlingen thanks Pierre and wishes him lots of luck on his efforts to earn the Eagle Scout Rank.
