One More Death And 101 New COVID-19 Cases Reported In Cameron County Tonight

Cameron County has received confirmation of an additional COVID-19 related death of a Cameron County resident. The individual was an 80-year old female resident of The Rio at Fox Hollow and had been previously reported as a case. This raises the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Cameron County to 68.

Cameron County has also received confirmation of an additional 101 case reports of COVID-19. This includes the following:

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases to 2,880 in Cameron County. There have also been an additional sixty-nine (69) individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 2,073.

Cameron County Public Health continues to work with the seven nursing home facilities and one detention center in addressing the COVID-19 outbreaks. To date, the Cameron County cases arising from the Veranda Nursing Home has included 35 employees and 64 residents who have tested positive, including 11 who have passed away. Spanish Meadows in Brownsville also has six employees and 11 residents who have tested positive, including two who have passed away. The Rio at Fox Hollow in Brownsville has 35 employees and 36 residents who have tested positive, including seven who passed away. Alta Vista in Brownsville has one employee and four residents who have tested positive. Harlingen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center currently has four employees and two residents who have tested positive. Ebony Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation has one employee and four residents who have tested positive. Brownsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center currently has two employees and one resident who have tested positive. In addition, Port Isabel Service Processing Center has 10 employees and 75 detainees who have tested positive.

As part of the COVID-19 action response plan, Cameron County Public Health is conducting epidemiological investigations, contact tracing as needed, and continues to monitor the situation.
