Cameron County Confirms Additional COVID-19 Cases

Cameron County has received confirmation of an additional one hundred thirteen (113) case reports of COVID-19. This includes the following:

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases to 2,296 in Cameron County. There have also been an additional seventy-six

(76) individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 1,466.

 

 

Cameron County Public Health continues to work with the five nursing home facilities and one detention center in addressing the COVID-19 outbreaks. To date, the Cameron County cases arising from the Veranda Nursing Home has included 35 employees and 63 residents who have tested positive, including 11 who have passed away. Spanish Meadows in Brownsville also has 6 employees and 11 residents who have tested positive, including two who have passed away. The Rio at Fox Hollow in Brownsville has 34 employees and 30 residents who have tested positive, including two who passed away. Alta Vista in Brownsville has one employee and four residents who have tested positive. Harlingen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center currently has four employees and one resident who have tested positive. In addition, Port Isabel Service Processing Center has 9 employees and 61 detainees who have tested positive.

 

 

As part of the COVID-19 action response plan, Cameron County Public Health is conducting epidemiological investigations, contact tracing as needed, and continues to monitor the situation.
