On June 29, 2020, Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr., issued the Second Amended Emergency Management Order Including Mandatory Facial Coverings, Curfew, Limitations on Gatherings, and Beach Access Closures. This Order is issued due to the increasing and exponential rate of people being admitted to area hospitals due to COVID-19. This Order is in accordance with the Texas Government Code Section 418 .108 and conjunction with the Declaration of Public Health Disaster declared by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
All individuals currently living within Cameron County, Texas shall wear a facial covering over their nose and mouth, and abide by the issued curfew and limitations on gatherings. Further, it is strongly recommended to Shelter-in-Place in your residence to the greatest extent possible. This Order is effective beginning at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2020 and shall continue through 11:59 p.m. on July 13, 2020 unless extended, modified, or terminated by Cameron County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr., or as otherwise indicated.
This Order is mandated after the release of scientific and substantial guidance from the Cameron County Health Authority, Cameron County Health Director, the Texas Department of Health Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A failure to comply with any of the provisions of this Order constitutes an imminent threat to public health.
At this time, Cameron County will proceed with the established orders and are supported by the honorable mayors of each municipality within Cameron County and in consensus with the Cameron County Commissioners' Court. Cameron County will continue to review this quickly evolving situation and may modify or extend this Order, or issue additional orders as necessary.
