HARLINGEN, TEXAS– The time has come once again for the statewide HEB Community Challenge. The eight week competition that runs through March 1 promotes healthier living and lifestyles. It also encourages cities to create healthier communities by holding events that promote healthy life habits.
This year with the help of the Healthy Harlingen Wellness Initiative, the City is expanding on the Mayor’s Walk by adding more community walks. We’re kicking off the series on January 18 with a walk with the City Manager Dan Serna who invites the entire community to participate. “We’ve come in first place the last two years and winning these challenges is awesome but the real victory is getting healthy for ourselves and for our families. I encourage everyone to come out and join me as we get healthy together.”
The walk with the City Manager will be at City Lake Park located at 410 ’76 Drive beginning at 8:30 a.m.
