8th Annual Harlingen’s Bravest set for January 24-25

HARLINGEN, TEXAS–On January 24 and 25 you will have a chance to have a great time while supporting a worthwhile cause.  The Harlingen Professional Fire Fighters Association in conjunction with the City of Harlingen and the Harlingen Fire Department presents the 8th Annual Harlingen’s Bravest Cook-Off & Fire Fest.


All proceeds from the event provide emergency assistance to Harlingen families devastated by fire related incidents.  It will be held behind Casa de Amistad on Fair Park Boulevard.


The BBQ is sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers Association which required that all meat is cooked on site.  Contestants will set up on January 24 and the competition kicks off early on January 25 starting with the beef fajita judging at 10 a.m. followed by the Pinto beans at 11, half-chicken at 12, pork spare ribs at 1:30 and brisket at 3 p.m.


Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. with Drew & The Dancehall Dreamers hitting the stage at 4:30 followed by the Tejano Boys at 6:10, Los Gavilanes de Harlingen at 7:40 and the Powell Brothers at 9:20 p.m. There will also be carnival rides for the kids, food, beverages, and a whole lot of fun to be had.  The entrée fee for adults is only $3 while kids get in free.
