Proclamation Salute to Sgt. Major Kinsley

Harlingen, Texas–After 19 years with the Marine Military Academy, Sergeant Major Ford Kinsley, Jr. is retiring today.


Kinsley came to MMA in 2000 as Support Commandant of Cadets and became Commandant of Cadets in 2003.  He has been very active in the community serving on numerous boards including the Harlingen Veterans Advisory Board where he served as Vice Chairman and Chairman.  He was also the Vice President and President of the Harlingen Amigas Lions Club, MMA Faculty Advisor for Kiwanis Key Club and Lions Club International Leo Club.


Prior to his time at MMA, Kinsley served in the United States Marine Corps for 29 years where he reached the rank of Sergeant Major.  He received the Legion of Merit with Gold Star, Meritorious Service Medal with Gold Star, Nave/Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star, and the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal.


In recognition of his friendship and support of our community, Mayor Chris Boswell presented him with a proclamation recently and declared May 31, 2019, as Sergeant Major Ford H. Kinsley, Jr. Day in Harlingen.


Sgt. Major, the City of Harlingen thanks you for your service and wishes you a happy and well deserved retirement.
