Votes to be Canvassed and Mayor and Commissioner Elect to be Sworn In

Harlingen, Texas– Harlingen City Commissioners will hold a special meeting Wednesday, May 15 to canvass the votes from the May 4, 2019, General Municipal Election.


The official vote count is required to certify the election. The purpose is to account for every ballot cast and ensure that every vote cast is included in the election totals.


More than ­­­­3900 registered voters participated in the election casting ballots for Mayor, Commissioner District 1, and Commissioner District 2. The unofficial results are as follows:

The special meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. and will be followed by the swearing in of Mayor Chris Boswell and District 2 Commissioner Elect Frank Puente.


The second regularly scheduled City Commission Meeting of May will follow at 5:30 p.m. at which time the City Commission will consider June 22, 2019, for the District 1 Runoff Election.
