Harlingen Welcomes American Airlines

HARLINGEN, TEXAS–Its official, American Airlines has joined the Valley International Airport family in Harlingen with three flights daily. The new service was announced Monday, March 4 during a ribbon cutting ceremony.


The airline is offering service between Harlingen and Dallas/Fort Worth where passengers can connect to more than 800 flights to more than 2oo nonstop destinations.


Mayor Chris Boswell and Commissioners Michael Mezmar, Tudor Uhlhorn, and Victor Leal were on hand to mark the beginning of the new service.  Mayor Boswell officially welcomed the Airline and its representatives to Harlingen.  “It’s another great day in the City of Harlingen as we welcome back American Airlines. What a great thing for the Rio Grande Valley, for the City of Harlingen, and for this airport.  This helps us to develop business, and industry, and education.  To have this kind of connectivity that American Airlines can provide with services to get us anywhere we need to go throughout the United States and the world really opens up a lot of new places and destinations for someone who wants to fly out of the best airport in South Texas that gives them a great, great choice.”


Dale Morris with American Airlines thanked Mayor Boswell and the City for welcoming the carrier to Harlingen.   “We are very proud to be a part of the Harlingen community.  DFW is actually the fastest growing hub for the American Airlines System you can connect to over 200 flights to 30 countries one-stop from Harlingen.  And that’s mighty amazing and powerful. American joins Southwest, United, Delta, Sun Country, and Frontier Airlines at Valley International Airport.
