Harlingen, Texas–The City of Harlingen announces the start of a Texas Department Of Transportation project that will improve a section of Business 77 and could cause some slight delays and or detours.
The project to be overseen by Foremost Construction will begin on August 4. It includes milling and overlaying Business 77 from Loop 499 North to Washington Avenue in Harlingen at the cost of about $1. 5 million (See map below).
The project also includes a portion of FM 2419 from State Highway 4 (Boca Chica Boulevard) to Teofilo Crixell Street in Brownsville for $1.5 million.
The entire project cost is $3 million and will be funded fully by the state.
The work is expected to be complete in both Cities by October 2021. Drivers are asked to slow down in work zone areas as required by state law to protect workers.
