Harlingen Resident Recognized on Her 100th Birthday

HARLINGEN, Texas– Today is Guadalupe L. Medina’s 100th birthday.  She was born on July 28, 1921, and is a life-long resident of Harlingen.

As a young woman, she worked at a local laundry mat, as a home-keeper, and childcare provider.  During the war, she worked in a cafeteria serving soldiers.  She married Jose A. Medina, also a Harlingen native and a member of the United States Air Force and they raised four children.

Mrs. Medina takes pride in having voted in every major presidential election.  Her children say she loves reading the local newspaper, watering her plants and lawn, and on occasion enjoys a cold beer.

During the City Commission Meeting of July 21, 2021, she was recognized by the Harlingen City Commission with a proclamation congratulating her on her 100th birthday.

Happy 100th birthday Mrs. Medina!
