Harlingen, Texas–The Harlingen City Commission declared November 26, 2018, as Santos Cantu Day in recognition of 36 ½ years of dedicated service to the community.
Mayor Chris Boswell presented him with a proclamation during the November 26 Special City Commission Meeting.
Mr. Cantu, a Brush & Debris Equipment Operator with the Sanitation Department retired in October. He first started working with the City as a laborer in the Parks & Recreation Department through the Texas State Manpower Services in 1979 and became a full time City employee in 1982.
The Mayor noted that Cantu’s service to the City was exemplary and worthy of a special notice.
The City of Harlingen thanks Santos Cantu for 36 ½ years of service and wishes him a happy retirement.
