HARLINGEN, Texas– A second Eagle Scout prospect is partnering with the City in hopes of achieving the Eagle Scout rank. Mason Hohnadel appeared before the City Commission on Wednesday, September 5 to outline his proposition. He intends to fund and construct an information board to display grief and emotional resources available in the City such as the services offered through the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas, Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Yellow Ribbon Program.
The information board will be placed between the Veterans Memorial and the playground at Pendleton Park. Hohnadel assured the Commission that no trees would be removed or damaged by the placement of the board.
His project includes raising the funds needed to construct and erect the board.
Achieving the Eagle Scout ranking as a Boy Scout is no easy task. First, you have to earn 21 merit badges, live by the oath and law of scouting, and be a leader in your troop and in your community.
The Eagle Scout ranking is the highest rank in Boy Scouting. The City of Harlingen thanks Mason and wishes him lots of luck on his efforts to earn the Eagle Scout Rank.
