            Opening reception for Portraying the Great Depression in the Valley.  Reception will run from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and is free to the public.

 

Portraying the Great Depression in the Valley / May 7, 2009 - August 2, 2009

            This exhibit features photographs collected by local historian, Norman Rozeff, depicting life in the Rio Grande Valley during the Great Depression.

 

Harlingen Heritage Festival / June 27, 2009

            The Harlingen Historical Preservation Society in partnership with the Harlingen Arts and Heritage Museum invite you to attend the 6th Annual Harlingen Heritage Festival. This event is free and open to the public.

 

Art4Kids Summer Arts Program / July 20, 2009 – July 31, 2009

            Open your child’s eyes to art and register your child in the Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum’s Summer Arts Program.  Participants will explore a variety of styles in art and participate in exciting hands-on art making experiences including: painting, sculpting, drawing, and decorative arts.

            In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum will feature Poster Art from the Golden Age of Cinema from the archives of Rogelio Agrasanchez, Jr.

            Opening reception for Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum’s Summer Arts Program exhibit.  The reception will run from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM and is free to the public.

 

Dos Aguilas Exhibit / October 8, 2009 – November 20, 2009

                Dos Aguilas: A Natural History of the U.S. Borderlands showcases spectacular photos of wildlife and landscapes along the 2000 Mile U.S./Mexican border.

 

Dia de los Muertos Altars Exhibit / October 8, 2009 – November 8, 2009

            The Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum celebrates the diversity of our community by embracing the Mexican tradition of Dia de los Muertos.   The Dia de los Muertos altar exhibit invites local organizations and members of the community to set up altars in remembrance of family and friends who have died.

 

The Taste of Harlingen / October 15, 2009

            The Taste is the Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum’s annual fundraising event in which area restaurants are invited to showcase their culinary expertise to the public.  The proceeds from this event enable the museum to promote an entire year’s worth of programming. 

 

 

Dia de los Muertos Altars Reception / October 29, 2009

            Opening reception for Dia de los Muertos Altar exhibit.  The reception starts at 6:00 PM and is free to the public.

 

Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival Reception / November 11, 2009

            Welcoming reception for birding festival participants.  Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be provided by the museum. The reception will run from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

            Opening reception for Christmas Tree Exhibit.  Reception will run from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and is free to the public.
