Harlingen Public Library is a practical resource facility for citizens to borrow and use materials for personal educational enhancement and to complement and supplement their formal education.  More than a thousand visitors daily use the library's automated catalog, multimedia resources, the Internet, online periodical databases, and over 160,000 books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs available for circulation.   Our patrons also take advantage of the many story hours, children's programs, and the many instructional programs available for adults through our free Adult Programming Classes.  The library has continually been accredited by the Texas State Library and also has membership in the Amigos Network for fast interlibrary loan service.  We are also members of of the South Texas Digital Consortium to provide downloadable e-books and audiobooks to your e-reader.

Mission Statement
To provide a positive learning environment in which patrons can have access to a variety of resources which will assist them with their information needs and their constructive and creative use of leisure and recreational time.
